About Us

The Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation assists Blue Ridge Healthcare in advancing the delivery of excellent healthcare to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.  Our focus is funding initiatives that support wellness programs, community outreach activities, medical education, special needs projects and facilities enhancements through private and government grants, endowments, capital campaigns and fund raising events.

Why Are We Important?

With national changes in healthcare, decreasing operating margins and increased financial pressures, healthcare organizations are relying more heavily upon grants and donations. BRHC Foundation assists in providing financial resources in support of many programs and services that might otherwise not be available to patients and community members.

History of the Foundation

Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation has its roots in its predecessor, Grace HealthCare Foundation, Inc. The original Grace HealthCare Foundation was created in 1991 by the authority of the Grace Hospital Board of Directors. The Foundation’s purpose was to advance the interests of Grace Hospital through fund-raising activities to support the delivery of health care in Morganton and the area served by Grace Hospital. In 2002, Grace Hospital Foundation was reconstituted as Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation, Inc., a natural outgrowth of the creation of the Blue Ridge HealthCare System. Just as the formation of the system expanded the overall mission of Grace and Valdese Hospitals and other Blue Ridge HealthCare affiliates, the mission and focus of Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation took on new dimensions, serving the entire populace of Burke County.
